Beauty Blender 101

I became obsessed with the Beauty Blender about a year ago.  Up until that point, I pretty much used my fingertips to apply foundation, but this quickly became my go-to for a flawless finish.  The shape of the sponge ensures there are no harsh streaks or lines, and the pointed end allows you to get into hard to reach places around your nose and eyes.  By stippling–a bouncing motion that presses the product into your skin as opposed to swiping–your foundation blends to perfection and stays all day.

Knowing how to use your Beauty Blender will ensure you don’t waste any product and you get the completely even, airbrushed look we all strive for.  After priming (my favorite is Smashbox Photo Finish Light) I get to work:

While it may seem a bit pricey compared to other sponges, it is definitely worth the investment.  For a better value, I recommend the two-pack.  You can put your spare in your travel bag or give it to a friend–you won’t be sorry!

Several of my girlfriends and I got these as Christmas gifts. We are all believers. I use far less product for a more even and complete finish. Who knew one strangely-shaped sponge could make such a difference!

I can personally attest to how well the Beauty Blender approach works on both Christina and Julie B.

I’ve been meaning to get my hands on one of these and try it out. Would you say it does a better job than a makeup brush?

100%! With a brush you are dragging the product across your skin which I find leads to streaking. Even with a stippling brush, I can’t achieve the smooth finish I get with the Beauty Blender. By pressing the foundation into the skin, it leaves you looking flawless and it lasts all day if you prep your skin right. You get a nice sheer but buildable finish. Let me know what you think if you try it! I promise it’s worth the investment 🙂

So Sephora sent out a 15% off email this week and I ordered the two pack with the cleanser. I’m going to try it out this weekend, when I’m not rushing in the morning. I can’t wait. 🙂

After I saw this post, I ordered myself a beauty blender. I used it for the first time this morning and I’m hooked! I’m not sure how I lived my life without it. Best makeup tool EVER!!!!
