When we set out to do our 100th post, we had no idea we would encounter the first snow of the season in New York. We had just started shooting when the first few flakes fell from the sky. Soon, there was a dusting of snow across Central Park. Luckily we picked the right topic for #100–outerwear!
From Christina: As California girls, we never knew the importance of a good coat until moving to New York. While you need something substantial to get you through the real winter months, a nice wool or cashmere blend coat completes a look during milder times. Since winter arrived late, I’ve been able to get a lot of mileage out of this Madewell City Grid Coat. When I’m shopping for a new coat, I look for practicality but also for special details. I love modern updates on classic silhouettes. The leather trim, asymmetrical zipper and subtle zips on the sleeves made this one stand out for me. I always check the material but especially the lining to make sure it will last for years to come, and this one both looks and feels like a quality piece. Once you have a good tailored black coat in your closet, it’s fun to branch out to colors. I’ve actually worn this cabernet coat far more than any of my usual closet staples, but if you can’t break old habits, it comes in black too 🙂
From LeAnne: I have been obsessed with flared skirt coats this season. The belted waist and flared skirt of the Ted Baker Laureol wool coat create a feminine, sophisticated look. I also find the dark green to be a more unique and exciting wintry color than traditional black. Since the neckline is lower, it’s best not to wear this coat on really cold days unless you have a scarf, but I still think it’s worth it! If you live near a Ted Baker store, this coat is on sale now!

Congrats on your 100th post! It’s been exciting to see what you girls will be wearing and doing next. Loving both of your coats, and the snow was a perfect backdrop for the photo shoot!

Thanks Grace!!
Congratulations, Christina & Leah! Love seeing your Cali turned NY style.
Thanks Chanelle!!
Love the city grid coat! Thinking of getting one myself, what is the sizing like?
Thanks Laura! I loooove this coat and have pretty much been living in it for months. I normally get a size 4 in coats so I can layer, but this one I got in size 2 since it’s a bit of a more oversized style. I feel like I would have been drowning in a 4. For reference, I’m 5’7″.
Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for stopping by the blog!
