Christina’s Favorites | December

I love the start of a new year. It is always full of such hope, promise and ambition.

I hope 2016 is the start of a new adventure, goals fulfilled, and a happy, healthy year.

And while we embark on a new month, here are all of last month’s favorites (in no particular order).  Scroll through for all my picks!

Madwell Cape Scarf Madwell Cape Scarf

Madewell Cape Scarf (also available at Nordstrom) – If you have seen me in person during the month of December, you’ve probably seen me in this scarf.  My mom actually discovered it, and then I quickly copied her.  The unique thing about this scarf is that it has armholes so it quickly transforms into a chic cape.  I wear it at my desk, in restaurants, at home, around town…you get the idea.

Real Chemistry Environmental Rescue Mask

Real Chemistry Environmental Rescue Mask – I have been in looooove with sheet masks lately.  I bought a sampler several months ago as a way to try a few out, and the Real Chemistry mask was by far the standout.  Even after trying 10-15 different brands, this is still one of my favorites.

My weekly routine is to do a sheet mask on Sunday night while catching up on my favorite Bravo shows (don’t judge!).  It’s a nice little treat at the end of the week.

If you have never tried a sheet mask, they tyically come in a gauze or gel format.  They are sometimes one piece with cutouts for your eyes, nose and mouth and sometimes in two pieces to fit around your features.  This particular one is a gauzy, single sheet soaked in serum.  It’s rather slippery at first but will begin to stiffen as the serum soaks into your skin.  After 20-30 minutes, you can remove the mask and apply any remaining serum from the pouch to sleep in overnight.  You’l’l wake up with beautiful, healthy, glowing skin!

Birchbox has a great set that also comes with Real Chemistry’s 3 minute peel.  My friend Nichole introduced me to the peel last year, and its exfoliating power is incredible.  You can use the peel and follow it up with the mask for fantastic results.  The set is an amazing value so even if you aren’t interested in the peel, it’s still worth it. For $24 you get two masks, the peel, a headband and a case.  The masks are normally $25 each so hop on this deal if you want to give this mask a try.

I’ll be doing an in depth sheet mask post soon, so stay tuned!

Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist Tatcha One Step Cleansing Oil

Tatcha One-Step Cleansing Oil & Luminous Dewy Skin Mist – After hearing rave reviews about the entire line of Tatcha products, I gave it a try a few months back.

The first product I tried was the Pure One-Step Camellia Cleansing Oil.  Instead of taking your makeup off with a regular cleanser, you actually start with a dry face and apply the cleansing oil.  I know it seems counter intuitive to put oil on your skin when we often think of oil as something we want to avoid, but you are actually applying good oil onto your skin and when you rinse it off, it gently removes the bad oil and impurities.

After loving the cleansing oil, I ordered their Discovery Kit and Luminous Dewy Skin Mist during their Friends & Family sale.  While I have really liked all the products, one of the ones I have been most excited about is the Skin Mist.  Once you apply your makeup, you give your face a few sprays for hydration leaving your skin dewy and luminous (just like the name!) I don’t know about you but I can use all the luminosity I can get during the colder months!  I bought the travel size to test it out but I will definitely be upgrading when it runs out.

Naked Basics Palette

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette – I am a sucker for all the Urban Decay eye shadow palettes.  The formulas are great and I don’t have any issues with creasing which I often get with other brands.  While the original palette is still my all time favorite, I recently picked up Naked Basics which contains 6 lovely matte shades.  It’s much smaller and slimmer which makes it far easier to travel with. You still have enough options to create several beautiful, neutral looks appropriate for any occasion.

That wraps up my December faves.  I’d love to know yours! Drop me a note in the comment box below.

Happy New Year!

XOXO,

Christina
