As a west coast native, the Caribbean was never on our vacation rotation but since moving to the east coast, I have been lucky enough to take advantage of the short flights to paradise. I love that each island has its own flavor, culture, and flair, and St. Lucia was no exception. I spent four glorious days there over the Memorial Day weekend. The most iconic symbols of St. Lucia are the volcanic Piton mountains. Our room at Ladera Resort had only three walls; what would have been the fourth was instead an open-air, unobstructed view of Petit Piton. It was amazing waking up to the warm breeze and sounds of the island while gazing at the spectacular view.
When traveling to the Caribbean or any tropical location, I fill my suitcase with color–the brighter the better. I have long been an admirer of Mara Hoffman swimsuits and dresses; her prints are nothing short of stunning and distinctive. I finally pulled the trigger on this cutout dress shortly after booking my flight to St. Lucia. Something about it just screams island vacation and the sunny print just makes me smile.
If you caught this picture on Instagram, it pretty much sums up my island uniform. Outside of dinner and the 4 hour hike up & down Gros Piton (my legs are still sore!), I pretty much lived in my swimsuit and cover up. To keep protected from the sun: SPF, this panama hat and sunglasses rounded out my vacation look…because protected skin never goes out of style 🙂
Look 1: Soft Joie Kirshna Cover Up Tunic // Biltmore for Madewell Panama Hat in Natural (it comes in two sizes…Small/Medium and Medium/Large. I find the S/M to be plenty roomy) // Tory Burch Vintage Round Classic Sunglasses in Milky Fountain Tortoise/Blue (additional colors here)
